Spoonflower Fabric for Geeks
Category : Clothing Design, Craft Room, Fabric Crafts
The fabric of the week winner on Spoonflower this week is perfect for your little geeklings. The theme was “Alphabets,” and the space-themed design pictured here took the prize.
Several of the runners-up are perfect for the geek set as well. There’s a chemistry theme, a woodtype design, and a Dutch and English one.
If you’ve never seen it, Spoonflower is for the people who stand in the aisles of the fabric store wishing for something different. It gives you the ability to design, print, and sell your own fabric designs. Each week they have a design contest around a different theme.
Previous contests have included topics ranging from time travel to pointillism. If you’d like to take a shot, check out the upcoming contests.
Steampunk and cephalopod lovers among you will find more favorites in recent winners, including Time is a Man Made Concept and Squid. For the pirates, there’s Ro-co-co and a Bottle of Rum.
Those looking for a way to honor the Doctor Who series this week should check out Madman in a Blue Box, Vitruvian Dalek, and Friends of the Ood.
Ruth’s interests all involve making things, which means her husband and two kids have learned to watch out for stray pins and bead trays and to ask before eating anything made of fondant. By day, she's an editor over at opensource.com. Follow her on Twitter.

That’s awesome. A friend of mine has some fun fabric at Spoonflower, too — trucks and crows!
